On September 24, 2020, Jimmie Nunley Webber, resident of Cookeville, TN and native of Viola, TN passed away after a brief medical development at the age of 73. Jimmie was born on October 10, 1946. In 1968 she received a B.A. in English from Emory and Henry College in Virginia following educational experiences at Martin Methodist Junior College and Peabody College. Mrs. Jimmie as she was known to countless students, had a diverse teaching career. She taught English as a second language through the English Language Institute at Tennessee Tech University; she opened a tutoring business, The Learning Connection in Cookeville; she worked as an adjunct instructor at Motlow Community College; she helped open and lead the Putnam County Adult High School, eventually serving as Principal giving hundreds of students a chance to complete a high school degree. Put short, she was an educator and partner to many students helping them along their journey however they might need a lift up. Jimmie had a gentle spirit, an infectious smile, a love for all things literature, a constant desire to doodle and solve crossword puzzles, and a genuine love for others be that family, students, neighbors, co-workers, or friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Billie Jean Nunley, and sister Linda Nunley, all of Viola. She is survived by three sons, Josh (Laura) Webber of Murfreesboro, TN, Jesse Webber of Granada, Spain, and James (Carmen) Webber of Dodson Branch, TN; and four grandchildren, Dixie Jean Webber, Israel Thomen and Juniper Wren Webber of Dodson Branch, and Kathryn Webber of Murfreesboro. Jimmie is survived by her brother, Ronnie (Julie) Nunley of Viola, along with a host of other special friends and family. A graveside service and interment will be held on Monday, September 28, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to High Funeral Home (101 College St, McMinnville, TN 37110), or in lieu of flowers charitable donations in support of The Southern Festival of Books can be sent to: https://www.humanitiestennessee.org/support_advocate/support/. There will be no service or visitation at High's. Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery.
